Tomorrow starts a new fiscal year, with a great new leadership team ready to go. I spent a lot of time at the EACE Annual Conference thanking the countless individuals in making 2013 – 2014 an incredibly productive year for our association, both on the micro and macro levels, but I know not everyone was able to attend. I want to take a moment to once again extend my sincere appreciation.

We accomplished so much in such a short time. A few highlights include:

2014 Annapolis, MD: 351 Total Attendees (sold out)

  • 131 Program Submissions
  • 326 Attendees
  • 20 Exhibitors
  • 48 Learning Opportunities
  • 8 HCRI Credits
  • 10 NBCC Credits

Developed and adopted a 3-year Strategic Plan that focuses on:

  • Communication
  • Signature Programs
  • Succession Planning
  • Employer Engagement

Reinvented Bridges from a newsletter to a blog format.

Negotiated a new 3-year Management Association contract with Clemons and Associates.

In the process of redefining the Mentoring Committee to focus on “Professional Connections.

Developed and adopted a Conference Task Force 5-year plan for timing and locations of the EACE conferences.

And in one of our primary initiatives on Employer Engagement, we’ve seen great ideas from our volunteers:

  • 30% increase in employer membership from 12-13

Total Employer reach: 230

Thank you to all of the members who attended these events. And thanks especially to our committee members and committee chairs – from the one-person committee to our larger conference team – for your creative ideas, energy and ‘why-not?’ attitude. You have all come into your leadership roles understanding that you can make a big difference in your professional life, and the professional lives of those around you. I feel lucky to have witnessed all that you accomplished.

I am especially grateful to have worked with a Board of Directors who is among the most professional – and happiest – group of people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They have put in countless hours of their own time, in their own offices, traveling to meetings, and genuinely giving thoughtful consideration to every moment of their time on the Board. Best wishes to those who are rolling off, and good luck to those who are stepping on. I am so excited to see how next year unfolds, and I know that the association is in great hands.

I can look back on so many of these accomplishments with fond memories and pride, but the biggest is the positive energy that has surrounded the 2013 – 2014 leadership team at all levels. I could not have asked for a better group of volunteers to work with, and I am proud to call them colleagues and friends.

Thanks to our members for giving me an opportunity to lead this incredible association for the past year. I am grateful for the opportunity; it’s a year I will never forget!
