Wednesday, 9:00pm – Following Day 1 of EACE

EACE Blog contribution by Jennifer Rossi, Assistant Director for Employer Relations, Saint Joseph’s University and 2014 EACE Conference Co-Chair

You’ll return to your hotel room tired, but feeling energized, confident that you picked the right conference experience this year. You’ll feel good about the community service activity that you participated in and the impact it had on the Boys & Girls Club in Annapolis. conference-day-1You’ll feel ready to Lead with the Wind in Your Sails now that you’ve learned about leadership at the Pre-conference session at the Naval Academy and performed marching orders. The break for the pre-conference and newcomers lunch with members of the EACE Board was a great opportunity to meet new people and you’re now considering getting more involved in EACE. And then there was the keynote. The inspiration! You felt ready for the conference ahead of you as you then took the opportunity to meet with exhibitors, some new that had helpful resources for your operation. It was difficult to decide between the first round of concurrent sessions, but the session overviews and experience levels listed in the conference app (boot camp, active duty, officer training) helped you identify the best fit for your career level and interests. Closing out the first day, you headed into downtown Annapolis, walking there and appreciating the beauty of the town and then taking the free trolley back. You dined at a restaurant that donated a portion of your check to the Boys & Girls Club, all while catching up with colleagues and meeting new ones. It’s Wednesday evening, 9pm and you’re hopping into bed knowing that you want to be awake in time for the Annapolis Walking Tour the next morning. You realize that you forgot your sneakers, but quickly remember that the Westin has you covered and for $5 you can rent them at the front desk. With that comforting thought in mind, and a head full of great first day memories and ideas, you drift off to sleep after a busy day and look forward to what else the conference has in store.
