Road Trips to the Real World Series – The Madison Square Garden Company: Being a Part of a Legacy
EACE Blog contribution by Angelique Torres Kim, Associate Director of Employer Relations, Salem State University and EACE Road Trips to the Real World Program Co-Chair
For over 130 years, the Madison Square Garden has been a staple of New York City, hosting legendary sports and entertainment events, from “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky’s last hockey game to Marilyn Monroe’s historic birthday performance for President Kennedy. In October 2013, the Garden had completed a $1 billion transformation of its facility.
The Madison Square Garden (MSG) Company is a leader in building sports, media and entertainment brands and has three businesses: Sports, Media, and Entertainment.
Students had the opportunity to spend some time at the historic facility, where they were treated to an overview of MSG, opportunities available, and a 1:1 with a member of the Sponsorship Team. Following the visit, students were provided with an All Access Tour of the new Garden.
MSG provides opportunities for current students. The MSG Student Associate Program gives students real business experience while expanding learning and development opportunities. Paid positions are offered three times a year in a variety of departments through the company. Students are encouraged to check out the website for more information.
Check out what students Brenton Adelson and Jerome Hayden had to say about their experience.
